Chojinkai Cumbria Open Championships June 2015

On the 14th June, The Dhesi trio once again made the trip to Penrith for the Cumbria Open run by the Chojinkai Karate Association. On this occasion they were the only competitors from Wado UK, but that didn't stop them adding another medals to our Wado UK tally for the year. The medals they won are outlined below.

There were to be two medals in the individual kata sections, one each for Charan and Amrit. Both youngsters would be returning home with their first bronze medals of the day as they each reached the semi-final stages. This pairing were then to go on and contest the pairs kata section with Amrit stepping up in age to do so. The effort was to pay off as once again they reached the semi finals and added a further bronze medal to their total.

Charan and Amrit were also to step up in age so that they could join in a team kata category with Teerth. It was to be the same story and same result as once again a semi-final spot left them sporting bronze medals by the end of their run.

Further medals would all belong to Amrit as he battled hard through the Kick-master division to book himself a place in the final. Unfortunately he was to succumb to a stronger and more imaginative opponent in the final, but adding a silver medal to his tally of three bronze medals was a great result.

There was one more medal to be won before the end of the day. It would be yet another bronze for Amrit in his kumite section. A great result for the 9 year old who is now discovering though that his opponents are now improving and leveling the playing field with him. 5 medals in one day though is a very pleasing result.

Teerth Charan and Amrit can all be seen above wearing their medals with 2004 WKF World Kumite Champion Paul Newby.
